Quick Tips for Taking Advantage of Social Media Sites
Social media marketing is becoming increasingly popular, which is no surprise considering how much the average Joe is taking to social media.
Facebook alone is reported to have over 20 million active users, with other social media sites behind in numbers but still having millions of users to boast of. With so many people logging into social media sites every day, it is no wonder that marketers are eager to find ways to reach their audience through these social sites.
If you are new to social media marketing, here are some quick tips for strategies you can use on such sites.
-
Ads – Social media sites are able to attract such a huge user base because they provide their primary services for free. This means that these social sites have to rely mostly, if not solely, on ads for revenue.
The good thing about going on an ad campaign using a social site is that these social sites have enough personal information about their users, which they use to determine which ads are most relevant for each user, and so display those ads for the user to see. This means that you can be sure that your ads reach your targeted audience, which is more than you can say for traditional ad channels like billboards and TV commercials.
While search ads are also increasingly becoming more personalized, nothing beats social sites when it comes to personalization just yet. -
Promotions and contests – A lot of companies launch promotions and contests on social media sites. These promotions and contests can be used to draw the attention of new customers, reward loyal customers, or simply increase brand awareness.
The great thing about using social media as a platform for launching such contests and promotions is that news of it usually spreads pretty fast since things get around by word of mouth. Note though that promotions and contests are not allowed in Google+ Brands. -
Information campaigns – You can use your social account to release the latest news about the company and products. You can do this by simply posting/tweeting snippets once in a while, or by providing more informative videos, infographics, and even links to articles.
The point is that social media sites are a great way to reach your existing audience to provide them with relevant information. -
Source for feedback – Social sites usually sell their services to businesses by saying that it is a great way to connect to customers. For once, this is not a marketing gimmick. If you manage your social page right, you can connect better with your customers, going beyond providing them with information to being able to get invaluable information or feedback from them as well. You can do this by simply asking questions learning from their replies and comments, or by using polls and surveys on the site itself.
And even if you do none of the three, you can still get useful information from analytics data, which some of the social sites provide for business pages.
