Hi, I have two things that keep bumping in my head regarding this script. 1. Does it translate the meta description of the page too? 2. Does it change the language meta tag automatically after translation ? Without these 2 items, this script doesn't help too much in google search results as you get indexed with the anchor text in let's say Chinese but the snippet underneath is in English and the meta tag language is english still...

My Reply:

The script does not translate the meta description, just the title. But, you can do this yourself by editing the stored translations in the database that is created.

Language meta tag - no.

I don't agree about the indexing. Yes, there will be a mix, but the overwhelming text will be in the foreign language. I am using the script on the demo site http://www.2kscript.com. If you do a search on Google: site:2kscript.com you will see that Google has foreign language descriptions despite the description metatags being in English.

I am maintaining a site for a client and they would like it to have their site able to translate. I notice you haven't mentioned whether it translates automatically. So if a user is coming from France then it show French copy. Does your coding do this? Cheers

Visitors click the flag or link for their country on the first page they land on. Then all other pages will automatically be translated to the same language.

All translated pages are stored in database also, so you can edit pages if you want to.

If you want the site to automatically show a French page to a French visitor, this would be possible by using some code that checks their IP address. The problem with this is that it doesn't always work as IP addresses are not always country specific today. I have a programmer who could write you up the script very cheaply.

Hi - Will the program work with database enabled site? We have a mixture of static pages and database rendered pages. Thanks.

It is a php include you add to the page/area where you want the comments to be. As long as you can add a php include it should work. You can always try the script, and if it won't work let me know and I'll refund you.

if i have 1000 products with descriptions and i just want to translate the descriptions and store the translated version in the mysql database and then ON MY OWN pull the translated versions out of the database and put them into static pages can i do this and how would i do it? i am worried about too many calls to the Google Translate server.

Yes, this is perfectly possible. To do it, simply login to your Hosting Control Panel (CPANEL), go to PHPMyAdmin, and you will find all the cached pages there.

I am interested in your product, but when I google on internet, I see that If your website sends many requests to google translate service, your IP (host) will be blocked and script can not run well.

Please tell me about this issue.

Thanks

Thompson

Reply:

Google is only called once per page, then the script caches the page for whatever length of time you set, so Google isn't called again.
